Amritsar to the Himalayas – Spiti Discovery Tour
Day 1: Departure from Amritsar – Drive to Manali (Approx. 10–11 hrs)
Your journey begins early in the morning from Amritsar, heading towards the hill town of Manali. Enjoy the drive through the lush green fields of Punjab and the winding roads of Himachal Pradesh, passing through Mandi and Kullu. On reaching Manali, check into your hotel and rest after the long drive. Overnight stay in Manali.
Day 2: Manali – Acclimatization and Local Exploration
Today is dedicated to acclimatization, which is crucial before ascending further into high-altitude Spiti. After breakfast, explore Manali's nearby attractions such as Hadimba Temple, Manu Temple, and the scenic Vashisht hot springs. You can also visit the Mall Road in the evening for some local shopping and snacks. Overnight stay in Manali.
Day 3: Manali to Kaza via Kunzum Pass (Approx. 9–10 hrs)
Post an early breakfast, begin the adventurous drive to Kaza, the main town in Spiti Valley. En route, cross the famous Rohtang Pass and then the breathtaking Kunzum Pass (4,590 m). The dramatic landscape transforms as you enter Spiti – with barren mountains, deep valleys, and turquoise rivers. Reach Kaza by evening and check into your homestay or guesthouse. Day 4: Kaza – Trek to Key Monastery and Kibber Village
After breakfast, gear up for a day of trekking and exploration. Start with a moderate trek from Kaza to Key Monastery – a centuries-old Buddhist monastery perched on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of the Spiti River. From Key, continue trekking to Kibber Village, one of the highest inhabited villages in the world. Meet locals, experience traditional Spitian hospitality, and enjoy lunch with a view. Trek back or drive to Kaza for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Kaza to Langza – Hikkim – Komic Circuit (Drive + Short Treks)
After breakfast, embark on a half-day adventure visiting the famous Langza village, known for its fossil-rich mountains and the giant Buddha statue. Then, head to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office, and write yourself a postcard. Next, visit Komic, the world’s highest motorable village. Enjoy short nature walks around these villages and soak in the raw Himalayan beauty. Return to Kaza by evening. Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 6: Kaza to Chandratal Lake (Approx. 6–7 hrs)
After breakfast, drive back along the same route toward Chandratal Lake, one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in Himachal. Located at 4,300 meters, the “Moon Lake” is a mesmerizing spot surrounded by barren mountains. Reach by afternoon and take a short trek from the parking area to the lake (approx. 1.5 km). Camp overnight under the stars near Chandratal (at designated camping grounds).
Day 7: Chandratal to Manali (Approx. 7–8 hrs)
Wake up to a magical sunrise at Chandratal. After breakfast, begin your drive back to Manali, crossing the Kunzum Pass once again. Arrive in Manali by evening and check into your hotel. You can explore the market or relax in a café after your adventurous week. Overnight stay in Manali.
Day 8: Manali to Amritsar (Return Journey)
After breakfast, check out and begin your return journey to Amritsar. The drive will take around 10–11 hours. Reach Amritsar by late evening, concluding your incredible adventure to the remote and rugged landscapes of Spiti Valley with memories of mountains, monasteries, treks, and soulful nature.
